The Dare to Lead™ journey – a courage building workshop

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown.

“A leader is anyone who sees the potential in people and processes, and has the courage to develop that potential.”

Brené Brown.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) reports that 63% of employers cite skills gaps as THE barrier to business transformation (p. 33).

But this is what the data doesn’t capture: the fear beneath the gap.

170 million new jobs will emerge by 2030. 92 million will be displaced (WEF Press Release, Jan 2025). Behind these statistics, people are asking: “Do I have what it takes? Are my skills still relevant?  What if I’m found lacking?”

Does this sound familiar? That’s vulnerability, the emotion we feel during uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure.

And when vulnerability is driven by fear, we armour up.

We avoid tough conversations. We resist feedback. We stop innovating because innovation requires brave work and the willingness to fail.

The WEF report identifies the top behavioural barriers in organizations: avoiding difficult conversations, diminishing trust, insufficient risk-taking, perfectionism, and fear preventing growth.

The Dare to Lead™ journey (based on the research and work of Dr Brené Brown), addresses these barriers directly.

This isn’t soft skills training; these are hard skills that develop courage-building through measurable, teachable skill sets. Participants learn to recognize when they’re armouring up, when they develop shame resilience, practice engaged feedback and create psychologically safe cultures where people can be vulnerable AND courageous.

The real skills gap isn’t just technical. It’s the courage gap. And courage is what transforms uncertainty into innovation.

"Who we are is how we lead."

Daring leaders are self-aware, know how to have hard conversations, hold themselves and others accountable, lead with empathy and connection, take smart risks that lead to innovation, reset quickly after disappointments and setbacks, and give and receive feedback, especially when it’s tough.

Attend this evidence-based emotional literacy and leadership curriculum. It’s a gamechanger for leaders of all levels. After all, we’re all leaders, leaders of our own lives, families, teams, etc.

The Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage-building programme (what Brené refers to as a “skill-based playbook for leaders.”) The most significant finding from her latest research is that courage is not an inherent quality, but rather it is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable.

As a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator, we provide group facilitation, self-reflection, practical activities, and short videos hosted by Brené on the four skill sets of courage:

4

Learning to Rise:

Learning and growing from the failures, setbacks, and disappointments that are inevitable when we are brave with our lives.

The world is desperate for brave leaders; daring leaders, like you, who are not silent about hard things, who ask the right questions, who are self-aware enough to lead from their hearts and not from fear.

The Dare to Lead™ curriculum takes place over 24 hours, and can delivered in three days, or broken up into modules within organisations.   The delivery can be online and in person.
